Bio: In this interview, Mr. Bell sheds light on the relationships between the diverse cultures that co-existed on Georgia Ave. through his experiences growing up near Upshur St.  He describes the schools, gangs, police and entertainment and how they evolved over time.  Mr. Bell now directs the DC Chapter of the National Coalition Building Institute whose primary focus is violence prevention and building cross-cultural community.  He described how his upbringing made him uniquely suited to this role as he found himself in the role of “peacemaker” more than once.
